Opal Louise Figliolo, age 80, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008. She was born March 16, 1928 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Donis Loren Grayer and Thelma Louise Spangler Gayer. She was a member of St. Judes Catholic Church, a longtime volunteer at the Little Rock Air Force Base Hospital, North Metro Medical Center, President of the Enlisted Wives Club, and President of the Thursday Morning Bowling League. She is also preceded in death by a son Michael Donis Figliolo, and a brother Donis Gayer.

She is survived by her loving husband Mike Figliolo, a daughter Sharyn Dean and her husband Stephen of Jacksonville, a sister Rosalie Rudder of Leigh High Acres, Florida. She is also survived by one grandson Michael Shuford and his wife Susan, of Tombstone, Arizonia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., January 5, 2009, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville with Father Les Farley officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Michael N. Figliolo, 91, of Jacksonville, AR passed away Monday, February 9, 2015. He was born in St. Louis, MO on June 6, 1923, to Nicola and Maria Figliolo, Italian immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island in February 1914. He married Opal L. Figliolo on August 25, 1946. Michael lost his beloved Opal Dec 30, 2008. He was also preceded in death by their son, Michael D. Figliolo. As well as his three sisters and four brothers. Mike joined the US Army Air Corps in June 1942. Mike served in three wars; WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He retired from the US Air Force in 1967. After his military service he worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. Mike retired from Sears in 1985. After Mike's retirement from Sears, he and Opal volunteered at Rebsamen Hospital for ten years. Mike and Opal continued their volunteer service for twenty years with the Little Rock Air Force Base Pharmacy. Mike and Opal were both avid bowlers. They both bowled on several leagues at the LRAFB Bowling Center for no less than four decades. After losing Opal, Mike continued to bowl on several leagues until just very recently. Mike is survived by his daughter, Sharyn K. Dean, of Jacksonville, AR. His grandson, Mike Shuford of Tombstone, AZ, a nephew, Sam J. Nicholas, of St. Louis, MO, and a niece, Terry Stanley, of Mineral Wells, TX. Due to inclement weather the service location has changed. Services will be Tuesday, February 17, 2015, 10:00 am at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike's name to the Gary Sinise Foundation (garysinisefoundation.org), the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org), or a veteran's organization of your choice.
