CMSGT Walter Agnew Carney, (USAF Ret.) 80, of Jacksonville died Sunday, September 28, 2008 in North Little Rock. He was born August 15, 1928 in Dayton, Tennessee to the late James and Nell Worthington Carney. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel, Imogene and Helen. Walter was a member of the Marshall Road Baptist Church and Jacinto Masonic Lodge #216.



He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Lewis Carney; children Dana and his wife, Cindy Carney of Cabot, Craig and his wife, Cherie Carney of Little Rock; brothers, Warren and Charles of Dayton, Tennessee; Doyle of Albertville, Alabama; Bryan of Dimondale, Michigan; sister, Irene Thornburg of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Michelle, Ryan and Sean, and great-grandchildren Madison and Tyler.



Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the Chapel of Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home with Rev. John Sammons and Rev. Mike Douglas officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Lloyd, Kevin Walls, Mike Bickerstaff, Ryan Carney, Randall Eller and Phil Powers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Rutland, Jim McMullin, Jerry Lacey, Dale McDavid, and Marlon Waymire.



Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Jacksonville Medical Clinic and North Metro Hospital for the wonderful care given. Arrangements are by Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136.

Evelyn Ruth Carney, age 85 of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her home. She was born May 18, 1929 in Beaverdale, Pennsylvania to the late William and Celia Gray Lewis. Following high school, Evelyn enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. While in the service, she married Walter Carney on November 5, 1955 in Wiesbaden, Germany. Mrs. Carney worked for over 17 years with the Civil Service until she retired. She was a member of Marshall Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville and member of the Eastern Star. Evelyn also attended Military Road Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 2008. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Dana and Cindy Carney of Cabot, Craig and Cherie Carney of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Michelle, Ryan and Sean; six great grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Ethan, Caleb, Emily and Connley; sister, Margaret Woodrum of Gulfport, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Reverend Cliff Hutchins and Reverend Tim Hicks officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Mausoleum. The family suggests memorials be made to Marshall Road Baptist Church or Military Road Baptist Church.
