Miss Ida V. Fort-Thompson was born October 25, 1928, the oldest child of the late Fredrick G. and Virgie (Harris) Fort in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Miss Ida was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, Former 30 year Member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church (Palmetto St.), 40+ year Charter Member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church, The Class of 1948 Graduate of Langston High School, Graduate of Brian's’ Business College, 10 years Nursing Assistant at Ouachita Hospital, 21 years at Family Planning Clinic as the Director, Southwest District Women’s Department Worker, Langston School Reunion Memorial Committee Chairlady, NAACP Member, 10 year Webb Community Center Volunteer Receptionist, Friendship Cemetery Committee Member, Church Women United Member, and Garland County Voter Polling Clerk.

Gethsemane was her heart. She was a Charter member and served in the Sunday School, Mission, Finance Room, and for many years was the Director over Vacation Bible School. She was always there every time the doors opened until her failing health but never stopped worrying about what was going on at her church.

She is preceded in death by her afore mentioned parents; former husband, Elmo Thompson Sr.; her daughter’s father, Alexander Collins; Three Brothers: Elmore Ammons, Joe. Fort Sr. & Robert R. Fort Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Three Sons: Danny Thompson Sr., Raymond (Debbie) Thompson Sr., both of Hot Springs, AR, and Sidney (Stephanie) Thompson, Camden, AR and a daughter, Lisa Regina Collins (Willie) Wade, of Hot Springs, AR; 20 grandchildren; 55 Great-Grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy L. Shead, of Los Angeles, CA; four brothers, Fredrick (Gerri) Fort, of Oakland, CA, William Fort, of Hot Springs, AR, Irving Fort, of Toledo, Ohio, and Kenneth (Yvonne) Fort, of Baton Rouge, LA; Adorable Daughters of the Heart: Anita Evans-Davis, Norma (Nate) Newman, Melanie (Donald) Thomas (Adorable Granddaughter of Heart —Kristin Thomas) and Shelia (Travis) Paskell; a Cousin/Sister, Betty Foster. Close Life-Long friends, Alda Bowie-Means, Fred & Bernistine Kilgore, Willie Perkins (Boyfriend of the Heart); Over 50+ Year Pastor & Friend, Rev. W. L. Robinson; the Gethsemane M. B. Church Family; Classmate of 1948/Brother & Friend, Gerald Andrews; Angel of Mercy Caregiver/Companion, Velma Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Miss Ida’s Home Going Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 2:00 P.M., at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Hot Springs, with Reverend W. L. Robinson, church pastor, delivering her eulogy.

Her earthly body was laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Hot Springs. There was a visitation at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Friday, March 10, 2017, where family and friends and family will have a chance to express their fond memories of and appreciation for Miss Ida
