Mary Alice Burt Grubbs, 91, of
Crossett, AR, died Monday,
January 18, 2016 with her family
by her side. She was born in
Crossett, AR, December 6, 1924,
to Austin and Pearl Melton Burt.
She was preceded in death by her
husband of 54 years, Jimmy Basil
Grubbs and one brother, Francis
Austin Burt.
Mary and her husband, Jimmy,
owned the Country Gentleman
Clothing store in Crossett for 16 years. Being around people
brought her much joy. She was a long time member of First
Baptist Church of Crossett, where she enjoyed being a part of
the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the
Eastern Star, the Crossett Book Club and the Colonel Francis
Vivian Brooking Chapter of the DAR.
Survivors include two sons, Burt Grubbs and wife Denise and
Robin Grubbs, all of Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Julianne
Milner and husband Mike of Conway, AR; Three grandsons,
Nathan Grubbs and wife Courtney, of Shreveport, LA, Brian
Grubbs and wife Amber, of The Woodlands, TX, and Drew
Milner and wife Rachel, of Fort Smith, AR; two granddaughters,
Kelli Cole and husband Montgomery, of Shreveport, LA and
Lydia Milner, of Conway, AR and one great grandson, Micah
Grubbs, of The Woodlands, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 21,
2016 at First Baptist Church of Crossett, AR with Rev. Jamie
Staley officiating. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from
11:45 to 1:45 prior to the service. Internment will be at Lacey
Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist
Church of Crossett.
