Lyndon Darrel Whitledge, 78, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 30, 2019. He was born in Sayre, Oklahoma on August 12, 1941, to the late Lloyd Whitledge and Florence Jones. He served in the U. S. Army for three years at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis and one year attached to the Turkish First Army. The direction of his life changed on January 17, 1961, when he gave his heart to God. He served as pastor of North Jacksonville Missionary Baptist Church from 1966 until his retirement in 2008. He remained active in his church up until his passing. He was known for his hard work, his inventive imagination, and his boundless generosity. He had an engineer’s mind and was able to figure out the solution to any problem.

Bro. Whitledge is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Veazey Whitledge; two sons, Darrell (Sharon), Jeffrey (Peggy); three grandchildren, Joey, James, and Reagan; two step-grandchildren, Aaron Wilson and Haley Wilson; one brother Lonnie Whitledge; and two sisters, Phyllis Whitledge, and Lesa Davis Koziel.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
