Dale M Townsend of Calico Rock, Arkansas
December 17, 1917 - September 25, 2015
Dale M. Townsend, son of the late Homer Townsend and Almer Rodman Townsend, was born December 17, 1917 in Forty Four, Arkansas. He departed this life September 25, 2013 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 8 days. He spent his life as a son, brother, husband, soldier, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. In 1946 he was united in marriage to Ramona Jones and to this union two sons were born.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific.
He was a realtor in the Izard County area for over 25 years. In addition to selling real estate, he was a farmer, buying and selling cattle. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Ramona Townsend of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law: David Townsend of Curley Point and Winston and Cindy Townsend of Calico Rock; four grandchildren: Matthew Townsend, Casey Townsend, David Lynn Townsend and Tina Townsend; six great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Joyce Dockins.
Graveside funeral service will be Friday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bandmill, Arkansas with Leon Morehead and Noel Morehead officiating. Arrangements by Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
Memorials may be made to: Pleasant Grove Cemetery Maintenance Fund, C/O Bancorp South, P.O. Box 70, Melbourne, Arkansas 72556.

Ramona Ardean Jones Townsend, daughter of the late Doss Alvin Jones and Margaret Jane Martin Jones, was born April 2, 1920 in Wideman, Arkansas. She departed this life May 19, 2021 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 101 years, 1 month and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Dale Townsend in 1946 and together they raised two sons.
Ramona spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years, Ramona was a homemaker and helped work the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and always had a plentiful garden of fresh vegetables. Ramona had a beautiful tenor voice and would sing around the house and while she worked. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Winston and Cindy Townsend of Gorby; four grandchildren: Matthew Townsend, Casey Townsend, David Lynn Townsend and Tina Bales; seven great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son: David Lamar Townsend; one sister: Melba Shipley, three brothers: Gamelliel Jones, Gerald Jones and Morris Jones.
Graveside funeral service will be Thursday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Bandmill, Arkansas with Leon Morehead officiating.
Pallbearers: David Watts, Brian Allenger, Darrell Johnson, Teddy Morehead, Cecil Morehead, Earl Barnes.
Honorary Pallbearers: Matthew Townsend, Lynn Townsend and Dale Ivy.
