Martha Ann Williams Hopson was born on November 18, 1949, to the proud parents of the late Clifton Williams and the late Elnora Ford in Camden, Arkansas.
Martha received her education at Lincoln High School where she was a majorette with the Lincoln High School Marching Tigers. She was employed with Lockheed Martin for several years and later became employed with the Camden Fairview School District and retired after 18 years.
Martha accepted Jesus, at a young age, as her Lord and Savior at CME Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church were she was vice president of the Usher Board, a member of the choir, she served on the Christian Board of Education, and the sphere head of the church program committee.
Martha also served her community by taking citizens to vote and she campaign for several candidates. She moved to Dallas, Texas and joined True Zion Evangelistic Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth & Co-Pastor Konnie Critton, where she served on the Usher Board. When Martha got word of that ground had been broken for CME Temple, she said “Dallas its been real but I have to go to my Church in Arkansas, they need me.”
Martha met and married Billy Ray Watts and to this union one child was born. She later joined hands with the late Ledge”Jr” Hopson. She is perceived in death by her son, John Patrick Watts; her two sisters, Mary Helen Jones and Shirley Ann Madison; two brothers, Elmer Ford and Henry Ford.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Terrie Williams Walton and Melinda Becky Davis, both of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren, Brandon Moody, Kimberly Williams, Patrick Brown, Regina WIlliams, Jasmine Briscoe, Destiny Davis, Jeremy Briscoe, Jeffrey Davis, Brook Griffin and Bailee Griffin all of Dallas, Texas; three great grandchildren, Justin Brown, A’nya Williams, and Jason Brown; two brothers, Thomas Ford of Madison Wisconsin and Johnny Foster of Los Angeles, California; sister Ruby Williams of Camden, Arkansas; two special nieces, Glenda Gannaway and Janice Ellis, special cousins, Latangra Sims, Brenda Foreman and Abbie Jenkins; god-daughter, Caren Campbell and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be Saturday, December 15, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the Word Family Church, Camden, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at CME Temple Church.
Funeral arrangement entrusted to Williams Funeral Home 504 North Adams, Camden, Arkansas.
