November 16, 1927 - March 9, 2021

Deacon Louis William (L.W.) Turner, Jr was the oldest son born to the late Bro Lewis William (L.W.) Turner, Sr. and Sis Eddie Lee Manley Turner on November 16, 1927 in Stephens, Ark. He was united in holy matrimony on April 20, 1947 to his wonderful earthly Angel, Sis NaDell Turner for 74 years. In this union, they were blessed with powerful Women of God: Linda Faye, Juanita Turner Allen, Cynthia Denise Turner Hayes, Bishop Dr. Etovia Michelle Turner Bragg, and Dr. Rev. La’ Vern Turner Jones.
At an early age, Deacon L.W. Turner accepted God as his Lord and Savior and united first with the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and later in 1948, he joined the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the late Rev. W. M. Bryant and later under the leadership of Dr. Jacob H. Hayes, Jr. and now the current pastor, Dr. D.L. Flowers.
For many decades, Deacon Turner served as one of the most dedicated servants in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with over 73 Years of Service. In 1959, he was ordained as a Deacon and served many decades as the President of the Deacon Board, Finance Committee, on the Brotherhood, Trustee Board, Usher Board, Logistics Management and Operational Maintenance. His strongest attribute was serving on the finance committee as he provided exceptional oversight and was instrumental in managing the funds of the Lord, helping to elevate God’s mission.
He was willing to do anything to help ensure the Lords’ business ran smoothly, which is truly why his long life was so blessed. He was always on call and would move at a moment notice when any church leader or member called for his help during his outreach ministries. He was the oldest living member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at the age of 93, with 73 years of Dedicated Membership and Service.
For 43 years, Bro Louis performed tirelessly for the International Paper Company in numerous capacities in which he retired in 1988. His hobbies included gardening, farming, fishing, hunting and teaching his favorite devotional hymns to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters Linda Faye Turner and Juanita Turner Allen, his great-grandson Landon Aziel, his sisters, Evelyn Lilly, Cherry Arberry, Mary Turner, Cassie Smith, and Mildred Turner, also his brothers, Ezell, Mozell, Lee Roy, Percy and Timothy Tuner. Deacon Louis Turner transitioned on March 9, 2021 at 12:05 PM in his home surrounded by his loving family.
