Ouachita County,
Arkansas

June 1, 1958 - January 16, 2020

We are here to celebrate the life and homegoing of Renda Lee Edwards Henry, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 1, 1958 to Ozie Lee Edwards (Mr. Moot) and Erma Lee Torrance. She went to her heavenly home on January 16, 2020 quietly and peacefully at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after a toe-to-toe battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Renda joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at an early age. She was a very special person and touched the lives of many in various ways using that unique sense of humor. If you were considered a friend, she’d “have your back” and you knew it without a doubt.

Renda graduated from Camden Sr. High School in 1975. A few years later she married Carlton Henry (aka PeeWee) and they had two children. She was a loving and devoted mother. She was a no-nonsense type of mother who always put her kids first.

When asked if she ever wanted to go to college, Renda’s response was ‘no”…then she jokingly said she wanted to go to Keystone...lol. For those who knew her “back in the day” you know she was always on the go and always in to something. She liked fast cars and would drive anywhere, anytime, day or night, rain or shine. Renda lived her life and it was a life of laughter, love, intrigue, danger, drama and suspense …never a dull moment. She was a free spirit and lived in Aurora, Colorado and Overland Park, Kansas for many years before returning home permanently.

Renda submitted her life to the Lord in November 2012 and in February 2013 she enrolled in the Crossover and Beyond School of Ministry under the leadership of Apostle Allison Dunston. This changed her life in a dramatic way. Her passion was to win souls for Christ. She started “living” the Word and was a walking, talking testimony of the goodness of God’s mercy and grace.

Renda enrolled at SAU Tech, Camden in January 2013 and received her AA degree with honors (Cum Laude) in May 2015. While completing her AA, she was also involved full time in ministry work and received her Evangelist license on April 16, 2014. Continuing her education at SAU, Magnolia, she received her BA with honors (Cum Laude) in Social Work in May 2018. On April 16, 2018, Renda was ordained as an Assistant Pastor. It was during the last three semesters that her health challenges progressed but that didn’t stop her. Her strength came from God and He carried her through!!

In November 2018 Renda moved to Texarkana, Texas to fulfill her calling in the ministry. There she managed the Crossover & Beyond Christian Halfway House. She truly loved the Lord and ministry work. Her passion was sharing the gospel and leading people through the repentance prayer. This became her core purpose and she did it with passion and enthusiasm. Her outreach ministry included visiting inmates at the Quachita Detention and Correctional Facility, visiting convalescent homes to reach the elderly and disabled, reaching the homeless (street ministry) and visiting homeless shelters. She was also a regular host for Crossover & Beyond’s weekly Sunday sermons.

Renda leaves to cherish her memory, 2 children, Tadashia Renee Henry (Michael) and Carlton Edward Geomal Henry (Angela), 4 sisters: Rennae Brewer of Redondo Beach, California, Sharon Denise Smith and Laura Ann Hill (Dennis) of Dallas, Shannon Green (Jermaine) of Camden, step-mother and step brother: Addie Edwards of Camden and Franklin Brooks of Houston; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren [including Riley Lambert (age 2) (who always video chatted with her NukNuk (Renda’s nickname) on Google Duo)], 4 nieces, 6 nephews, too many cousins to count; and 2 very special friends, Apostle Allison Dunston (a friend of 30+ years) and Shea Wilson whom she formed a very close relationship with during college. She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Carlton, step-father Joseph Jones and brother, Perry Smith.
