Jason Robert Elsasser, 41, of Sherwood, passed away on January 18, 2016. He was born on February 3, 1974 in North Little Rock to James and Pauline (Medway) Elsasser. Jason was a 1992 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School, where he played football. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering from Arkansas Tech University in 1997 and earned his Master’s Degree in Applied Science from the University of Arkansas Little Rock in 2000. Jason grew up playing American Legion baseball and then volunteered coaching Little League baseball in Virginia. He also loved to play golf and fishing. He was an electrical engineer for Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia, then OSEC/Qinetiq North American developing drones.
Survivors include his parents, Jim and Pauline Elsasser, one sister; Cindy Moran, and husband Jeff; niece and nephew; Olivia and Clayton Moran, two aunts; Valerie Sweeden, and husband, Ed, and Denise Reis.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 in Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Chapel Pines Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home and Crematory. (501)982-2136.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the U.A.M.S Cancer Institution, 521 Jack Stephens Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
