A Gathering of Friends for Opal E. Carson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Sharing of Memories will be initiated by Mr. Keith Carson at 12:00 pm.

Opal passed away August 19, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 90. She was born May 12, 1925, in Douglass, Kansas, the daughter of Mason and Anna Wilson Bass. She married Robert Carson on July 19, 1944, at Ogden, Utah and was a homemaker. Opal lived in Mountain Home for 33 years, moving from Livonia, Michigan. She enjoyed birds, nature and music. She played both the violin and organ. She always completed the crossword puzzle in the Baxter Bulletin every morning before breakfast. Opal never met a stranger and had empathy for everyone's troubles. She was very inquisitive and enjoyed meeting new people, particularly during their many relocations early in their marriage.

Opal is survived by her son, Keith (Denise) Carson of Cary, NC; two grandchildren, Corwin (Terisha) Carson of Norcross, GA and Jeanne-Marie Carson of Morrisville, NC; great-grandchild, Ethan Carson of Norcross, GA; brother, Mason (Lottie) Bass, Jr. of Columbus, KS and sister, Pauline (Nathaniel) Wood of Cambria, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Chauncey Bass.

Inurnment will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.

Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
