Neal A. Welch age 85 of the Curtis Community near Arkadelphia died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his home. He was born September 4, 1924, the son of the late William O. and Ruth Stone Welch. He was a longtime member of Arkadelphia First United Methodist Church, a member and active in the Clark County Fair Association and a member of Bricklayer's and Allied Craftsman Local #5 OK/AR/TX. Neal was U. S. Navy veteran of WW II and involved in troop transport on the USS William M. Black. One daughter, Linda Jo Arnold preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Mildred Southerland Welch; one daughter, Suzanne Welch Hardage of Arkadelphia, AR; one grandson, Ryan Lee Arnold and wife, Lauren; one great-grandson, Braydyn Lee Arnold all of Curtis, Arkansas; and one brother, Sam Welch of Sherwood, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Jones Cemetery at Brown Springs. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Linda Jo Arnold Scholarship% Clark County Fair Association.
