Elizabeth (Libby) Hatfield, 93, a native of Benton, Arkansas and a VA Peninsula resident for 47 years, passed away peacefully at home Monday, August 3, 2020. She met her loving husband of 72 years at the University of Arkansas after he returned from service in the Navy during WWII, and they married in 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She spent the early years of her marriage as a housewife and loving mother to her 3 daughters, moving 17 times during her husband's career with Alcoa. She excelled in sewing and needle work, and after her daughters grew up, went back to school to study interior design, opening shop in Peter's Township, PA in 1977. Elizabeth was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Poquoson, VA.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Mary Campbell; husband, William E. Hatfield; son-in-law, William Goldman; and grandson, Asher Goldman. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Daniels (Neil), Barbara Goldman (Arthur), and Rebecca Goldman; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leland Campbell.

Funeral Service and Internment will be held at Mt. Comfort Presbyterian Church and Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank.

VIRGINIA PENINSULA, Va. — William Ernest Hatfield, age 93, a native of Fayetteville, Ark., and Virginia Peninsula resident for 45 years, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, with his loving wife by his side.

He graduated from Fayetteville High School, Ark., served his country in the U.S. Navy, was released from active duty in 1946, and remained on reserve status until 1955. William graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1948, worked as an accountant for Alcoa USA, and retired in 1982 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Poquoson, Va. and the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Catherine Hatfield; son-in-law, William Goldman; and grandson, Asher Goldman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Elizabeth Hatfield; daughters, Deborah Daniels and husband Neil of Fairfax, Va., Rebecca Goldman of Reisterstown, Md., and Barbara Goldman and husband Arthur of Poquoson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kerrigan and husband Ryan of Portland, Ore., Daniel Bridge of Fort Collins, Colo., Michael Bridge of Sacramento, Calif., Ben Goldman and wife Carolina of Toronto, Canada, Julia Goldman of Long Island City, N.Y., Max Goldman and wife Mariam of Baltimore, Md., Molly Goldman of Philadelphia, Pa., and Elijah Goldman of San Diego, Calif, great-grandchildren, Anona Kerrigan of Portland, Ore., and Elias Goldman de Miguel and Gabriel Goldman de Miguel both of Toronto, Canada; and brother, Bobby Hatfield and wife Faye of Springdale, Ark.

Memorial service and Interment will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Mt. Comfort Presbyterian Church and Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Comfort Cemetery Assn., 3878 W. Mt. Comfort Road, Fayetteville, Ark., 72704.
