*Obituary

LAKE CITY — Atlas May Pace Harding, 105, of Lake City, passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at her home. She was born in Ripley, Tenn., to the late Odie and Bessie Pace on March 7, 1915.

Atlas moved to Lake City with her parents when she was two years old and had lived there for the past 103 years. She has always been a very hard worker and when her mother died in 1949, Atlas was forced to live in a river boat for a short time.

During that time, Atlas and her brother actually built her a small home in Lake City. In 1951, she met and married the love of her life, Jimmie Harding.

Atlas attended The First Assembly of God in Lake City for many years until her hearing prevented her from attending. She enjoyed working in the yard, sewing and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Atlas was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Harding; son, Rickey Harding; grandson, James Harding; and brothers, James C. “Satch” Pace and Howard Pace.

Atlas is survived by her daughter, Sandra Voyles (Dewayne Snyder); grandchildren, Brian Bass, Candy Harding and Chris Harding; great-grandchildren, Travis Bass Harvey-Williams, Shylia Elliott, David Harding, Dayton Harding, Carmine Harding, Chloe Harding and Alesia Harding; and great-great-grandson, Bradley James Hughs. Atlas also leaves behind a host of other family members.

The visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to funeral service at 2 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Van Gilbert and Albert Camp will officiate the service. The burial will follow in Bowman Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Brian Bass, Chris Harding, Travis Bass Harvey-Williams, Gary Snyder and Curt Snyder.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, 38105.
