Sterling Ginn Ivy, Sr. age 88, of Hot Springs, AR. died Monday September 12 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs, AR. Born July 27, 1923 in Harrell, AR. a son of the late Horace L. Ivy and Georgie Ginn Ivy he was a retired tug boat operator in New York City, a member of First Baptist Church, Hampton, AR. and a World War II Navy veteran. Also, preceding him in death was a son Sterling Ginn Ivy, Jr. and a brother Henry Ivy.
Survivors are his wife Martha B. Reaves Ivy whom he married August 15, 1968. 1 son John F. Ivy, Bossier City, LA. 1 daughter Jane Davis, El Dorado, AR. 2 brothers Thomas Ivy, Meridian, MS. and John Ivy, Hampton, AR. 4 sisters Ann Burson, Hampton, AR., Betty Murphy, Lake Village, AR., Peggy Norman, Pine Bluff, AR. and Bobby Rogers, Hampton, AR. 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Friday September 16, at First Baptist Church in Hampton, AR. with Rev. Mike Nutt and Rev. Keith Nutt officiating. Angie Stewart was pianist and soloist was Britt Stewart. Burial with flag presentation was in Campground Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Donald Ivy, Ronnie Ivy, Bill Norman, Michael Ivy, David Ivy and Danny Ivy. Honorary pallbearers were David Hand and Homer Newton.
