July 23, 1954 - October 7, 2019

The sweet and beautiful life of Barbara Ann Dixon came to a close on Monday, October 7, 2019. Barbara has left indelible memories that will be cherished forever. She was born on July 23, 1954 in Arkadelphia to the union of James and Edith Lambert Dixon. As a little girl she attended Tate Temple Church of God in Christ and was saved on December 23, 1974 under Elder Dennis and Mother Haynie.

Barbara attended Peake High School and graduated in 1972. She furthered her education while studying business administration at Ouachita Baptist University. She made friends easily and was known for her quick-wit and charm. She never left you wondering how she felt or what she was thinking.

She worked as the assistant manager at J. C. Penney in Arkadelphia for over 20 years. She was always professional and helpful; while meeting others and establishing lasting relationships.

Barbara loved Tate Temple and was a strong supporter both financially and by labor of love. She served dutifully as choir president, communion assistant, vice president of bible band and served on both the pastor’s anniversary and church anniversary committees, as well as, on the board of trustees.

Although she never had any children of her own; she raised, loved, supported, spoiled and chastised several nieces, nephews and god-children all while loving them as her own. There was no doubt that she “meant what she said and said what she meant”. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, and attending worship services. She was a good cook whose specialty was baked chicken wings. Barbara was a true woman of God and her example was evidenced in the life’s of those she touched.

Her life was full and she was truly sincere in heart. The memory of her existence will forever be woven into the lives of those who were blessed to know Barbara Ann Dixon. She leaves three sisters, Josephine Dixon of Atlanta, GA, Claddie M. Dixon of Arkadelphia and Stella (Paul) Hale of Arkadelphia; three brothers, James T. (Gretchel) Dixon of Austin, TX, George (Anita) Dixon of Milwaukee, WI and Calvin (Lurethia) Dixon of Little Rock, AR; three aunts, Zelma Smith of Arkadelphia, AR, Petronia Lambert of Newark, NJ and Eloise Blackmon of Hot Springs, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, other relatives, friends and the Tate Temple COGIC family.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Tate Temple Church of God in Christ with Superintendent Leroy Williams, eulogist and Elder Jewel Binns, officiant. Interment will be at Holly Springs Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home - 1626 Logan Street. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Tate Temple COGIC.
