David Samuel Reese, 78, of Gravette, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at Gravette Medical Center.

Born Dec. 10, 1912, at Adamson, Okla., to Henry Reese and Ruth Reese, he moved to this area from Mercedes, Texas, in 1983. He was employed by Outdoor Amusement Entertainment. He was a member of American Legion, Scottish Rite at Fort Scott, Kan., Blue Lodge at Chanute, Kan., and Mirza Temple at Pittsburg, Kan. He attended the Kingdom of God Church in Gravette.

Survivors are his wife, Surrilda Golden Reese; a daughter, Kathryn Hibbs of Chanute, Kan.; a brother, Bob Reese of Gravette; a sister, Alice Puryear of Gravette; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Gravette, with the Rev. Wesley Robbins officiating. Burial is to be in Daniel Cemetery. Visitation is set for 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surrilda A. Reese, 93, of Chanute, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Chanute Health Care.

Surrilda was born in Picher, Oklahoma on February 16, 1918, the daughter of Gordon and Myrtle (Pruette) Golden. She attended schools in Picher.

She was united in marriage to David S. Reese on December 24, 1934 in Pineville, Missouri. They were married for 57 years until his death on February 17, 1991. She moved to Chanute in 1992. Surrilda and her husband were Concessionaires and traveled the United States for most of their life.

She was member of the Eastern Star, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. Among her many hobbies were sewing, fishing, gardening, and painting, after retiring. She enjoyed playing bingo, pool, and cards at the Chanute Senior Center.

Surrilda is survived by her daughter Kathryn Hibbs and her husband Dean of Chanute; one grandson, David Hibbs and his wife Carolyn of Chanute; two great-granddaughters, Brandy Anderson and her husband Shawn of Guthrie, OK, and Samantha Reinecke and her husband Shawn of Chanute; three great-great-granddaughters, Layla Reinecke of Chanute, OceanRae Anderson of Guthrie, OK and Katlyn Gardner of Dickinson, ND; two sisters, Eleanor Burklow of Portage, MI and Irene Alexander of Boynton Beach, FL; and one brother, Jack Golden and his wife Irene of Hurst, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and an infant sister.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Daniels Cemetery in Hiwasse, Arkansas.

Memorials in her name may be made to Castaways Animal Shelter and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
