Mrs. Betty Jane Beckett, 92, of Jay, Oklahoma formerly of Pineville, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Monroe Manor in Jay, Oklahoma after a recent decline in health. Betty entered this life on March 22, 1920 in Springfield, Missouri born to the union of the late Henry Hobson and Josephine (Hall) Reece. She was raised in Springfield, Missouri and was a graduate of Russellville High School in Russellville, Arkansas. On May 10, 1942 in Vinita, Oklahoma she was united in marriage to James Ray Beckett, Sr. and to this union three sons and two daughters were born. They resided in Springfield, Joplin and Gravette, Arkansas before moving to Pineville, Missouri in 1972. Besides being a devoted homemaker she also worked for several years as a doctor's assistant. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and arts and craft projects. She was a member of the Valley View Church in Pineville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-seven years, James Ray Beckett on January 18, 2000; a son, Ronnie Beckett; two great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Michael Presley. Betty is survived by two sons, James Ray Beckett, Jr. and wife, Deanna Sue, of Jay, Oklahoma and William Joseph Beckett and wife, LaMelia, of Stella, Missouri; two daughters, Nancy Jane Weber and husband, Mike, of Goodman, Missouri and Tamara Presley of Gravette, Arkansas; twenty-one grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Vivian Grogan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Mary Jo Brown of St. Petersburg, Florida and Sue Greer of Bois D'Arc, Missouri; one brother, Robert Reece also of Bois D'Arc; a sister in-law, Opal Leonard of Gravette, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Beckett are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Aaron Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Gravette, Arkansas. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are James Beckett, Jr., William Beckett, James R. Beckett, III, Jesse Beckett, Justin Beckett and Danny Leonard. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Bethel Cemetery Care Fund and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
