Bettie Hoover, age 74, of Woodlawn went to be with the Lord on Monday,
April 21, 2014 in Little Rock. She was born August 28, 1939 in
Monticello, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Vance Carter and Lillie
Tucker Carter. Mrs. Hoover was a faithful member of Mt. Olivet United
Methodist Church. She was a respected teacher at the Woodlawn
School District for forty years and was passionate about providing a
quality education to all her students. Mrs. Hoover was member of the
Retired Teachers Association. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Mrs. Hoover is survived by her husband James "Ronnie" Hoover of
Woodlawn whom she married December 11, 1959; daughter, Vickie
Busick of Woodlawn; sister, Kay Carter (Dewayne Bonds) of Monticello;
brother-in-law Raymond Hoover of Texarkana; grandchild, David Busick
of Woodlawn; nieces Teresa Johnson (Kevin) of Tennessee, Gigi
Culberson (Wayne) of Texarkana, Candy Hamilton of Texarkana; and a
host of friends. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2014
at Buie Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary Wiles officiating and
interment will follow in the Campground Cemetery near Monticello.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Buie
Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Tom Brown, Mike Davis, Jimmy
Boyd, Sammy Vinson, Lee Stover, Don Gavin, Billy Britt, and J.L.
Woolley. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church
in Calmer. Funeral arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.

James L. “Ronnie” Hoover, age 81, of Woodlawn went to be with his Lord on
Saturday, June 6, 2020. He was born August 28, 1938 in Monticello to the late James Ralph Hoover and Evia Lee Catherine Phillips. On December 11, 1959 he married the love of his life Bettie Jo Carter Hoover, who passed away on April 21, 2014 after 54 years of marriage. He attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he studied forestry. He was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church in Calmer. He retired
from International Paper after 44 years of service as an instrument electrician. He loved spending time with his family, and his greatest joy was his grandson David.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Raymond Hoover and nephew,
Ben Hughes. Mr. Hoover will always be remembered for his big heart.
He is survived by his daughter Vickie Hoover Busick, grandson, David Busick (Taylor Evans), nieces, Gigi Taylor (Greg), Candy Hamilton, Teresa Johnson (Kevin),great- nieces and nephews, Craig Hamilton, Caylee Culberson, Presley Johnson, Vance Johnson and Seth Culberson. He is also survived by his extended family, Tom and Jeanie Brown and Sarah Brown (Brady Boston), sisterin-law Kay Carter (Dewayne Bonds), and a special friend, Barbara Watts.
Per Mr. Hoover’s request services will be for the family only. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital in memory of Mr. Hoover.
