Jerry Lynn Crook, age 76 of Monticello, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his home. He was born June 2, 1939 in Drew County, AR to the late Charles Crook and Blanche Sawyer Crook.
He was a retired Lieutenant for the Monticello Police Department where he was in charge of radio operators for 29 years and 6 months, a Mason and was a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Carpenter; one brother, Henry Crook; and two sisters, Edith Hays and Charlene Waymire.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Scott Crook of Monticello; one son, Terry Crook of Monticello; two grandsons, Jerry Richard Cater and John A. “Alex” Crook both of Monticello; one granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Cater of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Oledia Crook of Monticello; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service with Masonic Rites will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
