Alfred Arnold Ashcraft, age 79, of Warren, AR. died Wednesday January 9, at home. Born April 11, 1933 in Herbine, AR. a son of the late Ben Thomas Ashcraft and Martha Yarbrough Ashcraft he was a retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal, a stump grinder, member Martin's Chapel United Methodist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Also, preceding him in death were brothers Ralph Ashcraft, Joe Calvin Ashcraft, sisters Betty Lou Braswell and Gertie Brian. Survivors are his wife Carolyn Jane Smith Ashcraft whom he married April 29, 1961. 1 son Wayne Ashcraft, Warren, AR. 3 daughters Brenda Payne, Bonnie Ashcraft both of Warren, AR., Sharon Oelsen and spouse Byron, Hermitage, AR. 3 brothers Louie Ashcraft, Hermitage, AR., Charles Ashcraft, Monticello, AR., John William Ashcraft, Warren, AR. 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Friday January 11, at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Paul Wooley and Rev. Felton Savage officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist was Melvin Mills. Burial was in Adams-Singer Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Benny Braswell, Bo Braswell, Tommy Joe Ashcraft, Ray Chapman, Byron Oelsen and Wesley Ashcraft. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. David Foscue, Fred Newton, Sonny Newton, Ray Chapman, Ronnie Isom and Jerry Castleberry.
