Moyra W. Govoni, age 91, of Stoneham, passed away October 5, 2018. She was the wife of the late Ret. MSgt. John L. Govoni Jr.
Born in England and raised during the air raids in London, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Phyllis (Bowness) Grieveson. During WWII, Moyra met John, a Massachusetts native serving in the US Air Force and stationed in London. Following their courtship and marriage, Moyra was to embark on a very different life than she was accustomed, as a serviceman’s wife whose husband’s career encompassed twenty years in the Air Force. Of all the many places they lived, Moyra favored New England and it was in Massachusetts where they retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stoneham, and there she enjoyed the camaraderie of the parishioners and the endearing friendships that evolved.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Reaves and her husband Calvin of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a grandson, Johnathan Reaves and his wife Jennifer and a great granddaughter Emily of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was the sister of Jean Maidment of Burlington, Ontario, Canada and Bunti Cheales of London and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome to attend her graveside service on Tuesday, May 7th at 10:30, in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. The Rev. John French will officiate.
