Obituary: Gladys L. Madison, Jackson Funeral Home, Newport, AR
Gladys Laverne (Pinkston) Madison, 90, of Newport, born April 14, 1924 in Swifton to the late Rand Pinkston and Gertrude (Milligan) Pinkston, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hosea Lee Madison; one daughter, Wilma Jean Madison, two brothers, Elmer Pinkston and Curtis Pinkston; one sister, Edna Duncan, two grandchildren, Noel Madison, Jr. and Rodney Scott, and one great grandson, Matthew Helms.
Mrs. Madison was a homemaker and attended the First Assembly of God. She loved sewing, quilting, walking, gardening and cooking but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her beloved family.
She is survived by seven sons, Noel Madison and wife, Geraldine, of Augusta, Arkansas, Larry Madison and wife, Peggy, of Monroe Louisiana, Geary Madison and wife, Pat, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Danny Madison and wife, Susan of Marion, Arkansas, Charles Madison and wife, Sharon, of El Dorado, Arkansas, James Madison and wife, Teresa, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Billy Madison of Newport; four daughters, Barbara Scott and husband, Larry, of Mansfield, Missouri, Brenda Pace and husband, Joe, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Nina Bradshaw and husband Phyllip of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Diane Lumpkin of West Memphis; two sisters, Lois Pinkston of Niles, Michigan and Retha Davis of Holland, Ohio; twenty two grandchildren, fifty two great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Swifton Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 6:00~8:00 p.m.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers Noel Madison, Larry Madison, Geary Madison, Danny Madison, Charles Madison, James Madison, and Billy Madison.
Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons, Mike Scott, Kyle Madison, Bart Madison, Geary Lynn Madison, Jon Scott, Steven Craft, Brett Madison, Jamie Madison, and Josh Lumpkin.
Memorials may be made to Newport First Assembly of God and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
