rs. Joan P. Pierce, age 76 of Mountain Home passed away Monday November 15, 2010 at West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans. She was born July 15, 1934 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Sophie Raclaw Karwatka.

In her career she worked for the Illinois Central Railroad, Marsall Fields and the Chicago Park District. She married Edward L. Pierce on Nov. 24, 1956 in Chicago, IL. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Edward L. Pierce of Mountain Home; 2 sons: Michael (Evonne) Pierce of Longmont, Colorado and Robert (Donna) Pierce of Aiken, South Carolina; 1 daughter, Susan (Robert) Podsiadlik of Mountain Home; 7 grandchildren: Samuel, Dominick, Anastasia, Olga, Alex, Simon and Ethan; 3 sisters: Judith (William) Mitchell of Crown Point, Indiana, Arlene Gawrys of St. John, Indiana and Monica (Ed)Drzewicki of Schererville, Indiana; 2 brothers: Edmund (Mary Ann) Karwatka of Crown Point, Indiana and Richard (Ann) Karwatka of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Friday, November 19 at Roller Funeral Home with a Vigil Service conducted by Deacon Robert Pierce at 7 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 AM Saturday, November 20, 2010 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Baxter Memorial Gardens Columbarium of Serenity.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
