Mary Frances Gilmer, 89 of Ozark, Arkansas died Monday, February 5, 2018 in Ozark. She was a retired Administrative Clerk for the Forrest service, a member of First Methodist Church of Ozark, Red Hatters Society, Beta Sigma Phi, Turner Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a Blood Drive volunteer. She was born July 16, 1928 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Roy Vernon and Oma Cowan Utley Slocum. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Gilmer; her parents; and a brother, Roy Utley Slocum.
Mary is survived by four daughters, Myrna Carroll of Chattaroy, Washington, Nancy Mangum of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Bettie Jo James of Ozark, and Susan Miles of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a brother, Curtis Slocum of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, February 8th at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Highland Cemetery with Brother Jeff Jackson officiating under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Charles Ray White, Tim Culver, Otto Haberer, Mike Gibbons, Tom F. White, Jr., and Don Burns.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mary Frances Gilmer can be made to the First Methodist Church of Ozark, 503 West Commercial Street Ozark, AR 72949.
