*Obituary

John Thomas "J.T" Ratterree, Jr., 85 of Star City, died Thursday. He was born May 25, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late John Thomas, Sr. and Eula Pearl Owen Ratterree.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Star City. He was retired from Ben Pearson of Pine Bluff and the Star City Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Roy Jason Fish American Legion Post #37 and a 32 Degree Mason at the Branchville Lodge.

J.T. served in the Navy during WWII as an aviation metal-smith. He served in two combat units—ACORN 12 and PATSU 19 where he repaired battle damaged aircrafts. During this time in service, he earned the following decorations: WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 battle Stars, American campaign Medal and the Phillippine Liberation Medal with 1 star. J.T. was honorably discharged from the Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class having accumulated enough combat points to earn his Ruptured Duck through the Point System.

Survivors include his wife; Lois Zachary Ratterree of Star City, 2 daughters; Tonda Ratterree of Little Rock and Gay Ratterree (Darrell) McGee of Star City and 2 grandchildren; Christon Lynn (Rebecca) McGee and Jonathan Thomas McGee.

Funeral Services are at 2:00PM Saturday at Star City First Baptist Church. Bro. Stephen Beavers and Bro. Dennis Dodson officiating. Visitation is from 12:30-1:30PM Saturday at the church. Burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kenneth Brockman, Kenneth Bailey, Barry Boren, Chuck Copeland, Leonard Wilmot, Michael Baggettt, Robert Smith Floyd, Andy Venditti, Jonathon Whipple, Layne Baugh and Merwin Fowler.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200-210 West Wiley, Star City, AR 71667.
