Albert Russel Reed, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Plano, TX. He was a WWII veteran, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

Albert was born on May 16, 1924 in Unionville Center, Ohio to Russell and Alice Reed. He was the first born of 6 children; 3 boys and 3 girls.

He joined the Navy on the day following his 18th birthday, and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Albert married Marcelle Craig of Smackover, Arkansas in 1948 and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. After graduation, he worked for the Texas Education Agency, and then worked and retired from the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, where he achieved the position of Chief Budget Officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Eileen, Naomi and Phyllis, wife Marcelle and son Stanley.

He is survived by brothers Melvin and Fred, daughter Linda Chumbley and son-in-law Gary, son Steven Reed and daughter-in-law Verlene, 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
