James Calvin McGriff age 88, of Star City, passed away Friday, December 6 2019 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Calvin was born February 9, 1931 in Star City to the Late Robert Monroe and Fairy Vermillion McGriff. Mr. McGriff was a self-employed logger, was a member of the Pigeon Roost Saddle club, Pigeon Roost hunting club, and the coon hunter’s association. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an overall great outdoorsman. He was also of the Baptist faith.

Also preceding him in death was his loving wife Juanita Marie McGriff; six brothers, Buddy McGriff, Arthur McGriff, Clyde McGriff, Monroe McGriff, Chester McGriff, and Hoyt McGriff, and four sisters; Edna Nutt, Emogene Reynolds, Beatrice McGriff, and Irene Noland.

Survivors include three sons; Dale McGriff and wife Candy of Star City, John McGriff and wife Nat of Hot Springs, and Robert McGriff and wife Tammy of Star City, two daughters; Barbara Ann Sterling and Husband Lawrence of Greenwood, and Mary Haynes and husband Mark of Star City, one sister, Eva Cogbill of Hot Springs, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Juanita Marie McGriff, 85 of Star City, passed away Sunday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

She was born July 23, 1932 to the late Wash and Annie Belle Daughtery Williams.

She was a homemaker and loved to quilt, garden and take care of her family.

Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Leonard Williams and Robert Lee Williams; and 3 sisters, Imogene Massey, Orie Coleman and Myrtle Mae Rodgers.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin McGriff of Star City; 3 sons, Dale (Candy) McGriff of Star City, John (Nat) McGriff of Fort Smith, and Robert (Tammy) McGriff of Star City; 2 daughters, Barbara Ann (Lawrence) Sterling of Greenwood and Mary (Mark) Haynes of Star City; 3 brothers, Lonnie Williams of Star City, Donnie Williams of Sulphur Springs and Tommy Williams of Pine Bluff; 2 sisters, Fannie Belle McDonald of Humphrey and Lucille McGriff of Star City; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11:00AM Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Paul Pickens and Bro. Thomas McGriff officiating.

Visitation is 9:00-11:00AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City.

Pallbearers are James McGriff, Bobby Harold Reynolds, John Haynes, Glyn Haynes, Larry McGriff, Jason McGriff and Jeremy McGriff.
