Former Benton Sheriff Dies
Bentonville — Edgar Paul Fields, 73, former Benton County Sheriff, died Friday at Bates Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born at Centerton and spent most of his life there. He served four years as deputy sheriff and four years as sheriff. He was a former employee of the state revenue department and a member of the Mason Lodge and Centerton Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Lensen of Denver, Colo,: two sons, Stroud of Bentonville and Jack of Houston, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. George Murdock of Cave Springs and Mrs. Walter Ruth of Houston; four brothers, Ray and Harley of Bentonville, Perry of Tulsa and Eugene of Texas; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Centerton Methodist Church. Burial in Centerton Cemetery under direction of Callison-McKinney Funeral Home.

Bentonville — Mrs. Jennie Margaret Fields, 77, died Friday at Bates Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Centerton for 58 years and a member of the Centerton Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband Edgar of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Lensen of Tulsa; two sons, Stroud of Bentonville and Jack of Houston, Tex.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Centerton Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Centerton Cemetery under the direction of Callison-McKinney Funeral Home.
