**Obituary
Velma Haigwood McGaha, 90, of Batesville died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Cave City.

Born Feb. 16, 1910, in Independence County, she was the daughter of Charlie and Minnie Martin Haigwood. She was a homemaker and of the Free Pentecost faith.

Survivors include a son, Melvin Ray Huff of Lake Placid, Fla.; three brothers, James Haigwood of Batesville, Alvis Haigwood of Amelia, Ohio, and Coy Haigwood of Pleasant Plains; two sisters, Opal Riley and Altha Rider, both of Batesville; two grandchildren, Vance Huff and Robin Fowler, both of Michigan; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charlie Huff; her second husband, Lawton McGaha; three brothers, Roe Haigwood, Laman Haigwood and Delois Haigwood; and a sister, Fannie Carter.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roller Crouch Chapel with Charles Barnett officiating and Winford Sandy assisting. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.

Pallbearers are J.C. Cornish, Jeff Haigwood, Greg Girtman, Cleo Tosh, Billy Huff and Kenneth Turner.

Lawton McGaha
Lawton Tillmon McGaha, 80, of Batesville, a retired stonemason, died Monday.

McGaha was a member of East Side Free Pentecostal Church and was a veteran of World War II.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at East Side Free Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery by Crouch Funeral Home.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Velma Haigwood McGaha; a son, Melvin Ray Huff of Okeechobee, Fla.; a sister, Miss Una McGaha of Batesville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
