Kathleen Barnes Franks, 89, of Cushman, Arkansas died Monday, October 29, 2012 at her residence.
She was born August 13, 1923 in Sidney, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles Barnes and Maude Bullard Barnes.
She retired as a teacher from Cushman Schools after 35 years. Kathleen enjoyed cooking and her homemade biscuits and fried pies were everyone's favorite. She also enjoyed flower gardening, and one of her quilts was a "Grand Champion Winner" at the Arkansas State Fair. Creating Cabbage Patch Dolls and silk pillow cases were included in her many creative talents. Kathleen was a member of the Cushman Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a son, Danny Franks of Cushman; four grandchildren, Josh Franks, Jessica Crenshaw, Randy Franks, and Bryan Franks; five great-grandchildren, Bryson Franks, Alyson Franks, Ryland Franks, Gracyn Franks, and Jackson Boyd; daughter-in-law, Pat Franks; two sisters, Veda Hill and Minnie Kimmer, both of Batesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.C. Franks, son, Charles Franks; brother, Frank Barnes, and half-brother, Don Tate; sisters, Shirley Blocker, Mary Linville, and Julia Rowlett.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Cushman Assembly of God with Bro. Carl Blankenship and Bro. Dennis Esteb officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers are Chris Gillihan, Paul Kimmer, Randy Burns, Eugene Skelton, Kenny Hurley and Tim Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Gillihan, Jack Hill, Danny Grady, Sammy Hurley, Wilson Gipson, and Chip Blocker.
Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the funeral home.
