Milton Albert WILLIAMSON (VETERAN)

Clinton (aka Clinton City) Cemetery
Van Buren County,
Arkansas

AIRMAN THIRD CLASS US Air Force
April 24, 1938 - June 2, 2009

Milton Albert Williamson of Clinton, (Christian, Husband, Daddy, Papa, Brother and Friend) 81, left this world surrounded by his loved ones on June 2nd, 2019. Sadly, he suffered many months, but NEVER complained.

He was born April 24, 1938 in Locust Grove, Arkansas to the late Albert and Rachel (Fields) Williamson of Heber Springs and Newport. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Strauser, brother David Williamson, and his grandparents, Benoni and Pearl (Holbrook) Fields.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving bride of almost 61 years, Elizabeth (Qualls) Williamson, son, William (Susie) Williamson of Greer's Ferry, daughter, Tammy (Robert Copeland) Newton of North Little Rock, sisters; Lynn Storey of California and Ivonne Brown of Mississippi, six grandchildren; Bernie (Amanda) McAleese, Johnathon (Robin) Newton, Anthony Newton, Jaime (Sherry) Newton, Aaron (Kimberly) Brown, Amber (Jake) Snowden, son-in-law Buddy Newton and many beloved great-grandchildren, brothers- in law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Milton devoted his life to God, his family, helping others, working hard and trying to make this world a better place. He built a legacy of love, faith, and integrity. He loved spending his time gardening, landscaping, hiking Arkansas, volunteering and, most of all, spending time worshipping the Lord and spending time with his family. He was a faithful Christian, worshipping at the Choctaw Church of Christ, Heber Springs Church of Christ and Clinton Church of Christ.

He is known for his beautiful flower terraces at their home overlooking Greer's Ferry Lake. His grandchildren knew that he always attended to a wide variety of flowers with some blooming at all times of the year. That is why his firstborn great-grandchild, Kylie lovingly named Dad and Mom, Papa and Grandma Flowers.

He was raised on his father's farm on Heber Springs Mountain and remained there until joining the Air Force. He later returned to Heber Springs where he fell in love with a young woman named Elizabeth. They were married June 30, 1958. They later moved to Newport, where their son, William was born and then back to Heber Springs, where their daughter, Tammy was born.
Mr. Williamson helped establish the Community Water Department in Greer's Ferry, where he worked as the manager for many years before moving to Batesville. Then, one day, as he was traveling through Van Buren County, he fell in love with the little town of Clinton. They lived there for many years before he discovered a little piece of land out of Choctaw overlooking the Greer's Ferry Lake. He worked day and night to build them the home that they would both retire in. Milton was always working to add new rock terraces filled with beautiful roses, assorted flowers, trees, bushes and gardens. He always loved meeting new people as they would make their way up to the house on the hill lovingly referred to as "Three Winds".

Milton was active even as he grew older, waking up each morning at 3 a.m. and working each day until sunset. He always said that there is always something to be tended to.He worked 32 years for the Clinton Water and Sewer Department. He was one of the hardest workers that ever existed. He instilled this value in his children and family whom he loved very much. He was a man of honor, grace, faith and integrity. The Lord was our father's true boss, through every stage of his life. His grandson, Johnathon, said it best when he told our father he was his hero.He was also a member of the Arkansas Water and Sewer Association, serving as president on two separate occasions. Education was very important to him, as he continued throughout his life studying and donating his time to educate and mentor others.
His favorite song was "Church in the Wildwood" and although his voice became weak in his later age, he always loved to hum church hymns while working and telling us stories of his childhood.

Visitation will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton on Friday, June 7th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 8th at 1 p.m. at Choctaw Church of Christ with burial to follow at Clinton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Choctaw Church of Christ Food Bank through Choctaw Church of Christ in Choctaw, Arkansas.
