Mr. Harley David Abney of Gourdneck, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the age of 73. He was born September 18, 1946 in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, the son of Harley Frank “H. F.” and Grace Ann (Caselman) Abney.
Mr. Abney retired from farming and then he and his son started Abney Fish Farms in 1990. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved taking vacations with his family and friends, going out west visiting the national parks. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all have enjoyed listening to his great story telling.
Mr. Abney was preceded in death by his father, Harley Frank Abney; his mother, Grace Ann (Caselman) Abney, infant sister, Ruthie Ann Abney, his father-in-law Ernie Hodge and mother-in-law Alma Hodge.
Mr. Abney is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sondra Lee (Hodge) Abney; one son, Berry Alan Abney and wife, Crystal, of Searcy; one daughter, Sherrie Abney Eastin and husband, Rhease, of Bald Knob; two grandsons Matthew Ray Hanley and wife Kara, of Gourdneck, and Benton Cohl Abney of Searcy; two great-grandchildren, Kaylen Rae Hanley and Matthew" Kade" Hanley, both of Gourdneck one brother, Robert Abney and wife, Bobbie, of Belleville, MI; one nephew, Doug Abney of Vilonia; one niece, Debra Helton and husband Ken, of Belleville, MI; one great-niece Felicia, of Belleville, MI and a lifetime of friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ferrell Wiggins officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at Gourdneck. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are John Taylor, Marvin Polston, Brad McGee, Keith Page, Jeff Bagwell, Alvin Pritchard and Billy Jo Kyle. Honorary Pallbearers are Dan McGee, Matt Hanley, Benton Cohl Abney, Kade Hanley, and Rhease Eastin.
