Feb 5, 1982 - July 5, 2007

Staff Sergeant James Paul Cook, Jr., age 25 of Cabot, died Wednesday, July 5, 2007 in Italy. He was born February 5, 1982 in Sedalia, Missouri. James was a 2000 Cabot High School graduate and a member of track team and the Spanish, and Art Clubs. At the age of 12, James became a certified Scuba Diver. He loved to float the Buffalo River, fish, and hunt. He enjoyed working in the garden and flowers. James enjoyed drawing and practicing guitar, and he had an immense sense of humor. The Airmen he worked with count him as one of their truest friends. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. The most consistent thing said by those who knew him best is that what he loved most was his family. His face would light up as he talked about his wife and son and their daughter on the way.
On November 12, 2001, James entered the United States Air Force and served two tours in Qatar and two tours in Iraq. Sergeant Cook recently returned from the AEF 5 deployment to Balad Air Base, Iraq, where his expertise in Ammo contributed to more than 100 precision – guided munitions dropped on enemy positions. Sergeant Cook's duties included night shift senior controller. James was responsible for directing munitions movements for more than 70 coalition aircraft. Additionally, he was responsible for ensuring all his fellow Ammo troops were safe after each attack. This was done with perfection and professionalism each and every time.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his parents, James Paul, Sr. and Wendy Wentz Cook; wife, Suzanne Necole Cook of Jacksonville; children, Christopher Paul and Isabella Marie Cook; brother, Jason Wayne Cook of Eugene, Oregon; sister, Heather Renee Cook of Los Angeles, California and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot. Interment will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Memorial Gardens in Marshall, Arkansas. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816. The online guestbook may be signed at www.moorescabotfuneralhome.com.
