Mr. Stanley Keith Madden, Sr., of Beedeville, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his home. He was born April 15, 1936 at the Cowlake Community.
Stan grew up in the community of Cowlake, Arkansas, with his parents, grandmother, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. As a young man, he was known for his athletic ability in basketball, baseball, and track. He graduated from Beedeville High School in 1954. Following graduation, he farmed 2 years on the family farm, then joined the Army in 1956, where he received basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He was then deployed to Germany and stationed there until July 21, 1959, when he returned home. Stan was an active National Guard member for 6 years. Upon returning home from the military, he once again joined his father and brothers on the family farm. His expertise on the farm was to oversee rice production.
Stan was a member of the Beedeville Church of Christ, where he served as an elder. He also served as treasurer for the Beedeville Church of Christ until 2007, when he stopped due to health reasons. He also taught Bible classes. Stan was a good listener and offered wise advice. He was a true encourager.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Perhaps his greatest enjoyment was family, especially time spent with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father, Roy E. Madden; his mother, Lola Iris (McFadden) Madden; his grandmother, Etta Walker (Madden) Cobb; five brothers, Harold Alton Madden, Sr., Joe E. Madden, Sr., Ralph E. Madden, Norman E. Madden, Sr., and Dale C. Madden, Sr.; two sisters, Royslen Madden and Etta Lee (Madden) Reid; five nephews, Roy Thomas, Kevin Evins, Grant Evins, John Paul Madden, and Mike Reid; one niece, Cherri Jean Madden King; father-in-law, Clarence Douglas Evins; mother-in-law, Minnie Mae (Ford) Evins; and brother-in-law, C.A. Evins.
Stan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma Jo (Evins) Madden; his children, Stanita Mae (Madden) and Joseph M. Taylor, IV of Newport, and Stanley Keith Madden, Jr., and fiancé, Amy Imboden, of Hickory Ridge; six grandchildren, Hope Taylor, Emma Jo Taylor, and Madden Mae Taylor of Newport, Kent Madden, Kaleb Madden, and Kristen Madden of Vilonia; two brothers, Kenneth Madden and Hervey Madden of Beedeville; one sister, Elaine Thomas of Beedeville; one brother-in-law, Shelley F. Evins of Newport. He is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday evening, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Beedeville Church of Christ with Dr. Gary Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Walker-Madden Cemetery at Cowlake.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Keith Madden, Kent Madden, Kaleb Madden, Dale Madden, Jr., Harold Madden, Jr., Mitch Reid, Dr. Mac Madden, Tony Madden, Michael Reynolds, Danny Thomas, Jr., Steve Reid, Joe Madden, Jr,. Kenneth Madden, Jr., John Kevin Madden, Jeff Madden, Ed Madden, and Hayden Cockrill. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Nance, Larry Dabbs, Wayne Foushee, Jimmy Peacock, Chad O’dell, Danny Thomas, Sr., Hervey Madden, Levi Carlton, Joe Taylor IV, Shelley Evins, Bart Gaskin, Steven Dabbs, Joey Rennicke, Elaine Thomas, and Kenneth Madden.
