Robert J. Hemphill, of Harrison, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Harrison Rehabilitation and Health Center. He was 80 years old.

An open visitation will be from Noon Wednesday, May 4 to Noon Friday, May 6, 2016 at Holt Memorial Chapel.

Graveside service is Friday, May 6 at Dennard Cemetery, in Dennard, AR, at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Robert was born at Pindall, AR on September 8, 1935 to Logan B. and Vada (Battenfield) Hemphill.

When he returned from the Army, after three years in Germany, he started his career at Wayne Gourd Body and Paint Shop under the Bill of Rights. He then met and married his wife, Verla M. Lewis in 1960. They moved to Clovis, NM in 1968 and raised their family. He owned and operated body shops and used car lots in the Clovis area.

His parents; two brothers, Eulis and Burpee; three sisters, Jewell, Helen, and Willie preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Verla Hemphill; four sons, Robert Hemphill, Ronald Hemphill, Lloyd and his wife, Pamela Hemphill, and Shannon Hemphill; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capps Full Gospel Church, 5204 AR 392, Harrison, AR 72601.
