On Monday, February 24, 2020, God called His loyal servant, Mother Alice Mae Mixon, home.

She was born on May 25, 1942, to Augusta and Alice Turner. She attended Westside Public School in Waldo. She married Paul Otis Mixon on March 26, 1956, and to this union three children were born. She united with Willisville Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Wallace Johnson and later moved to Cotton Belt Church of God in Christ under the leadership of her brother, Superintendent James Turner, where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. She was employed at Amfuel for 35 years. While there, she began her occupation as a builder and held several other positions before her last position as a project engineer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Augusta and Alice Turner; brothers, Curtis Turner Sr. and Aluster Turner; her only sister, Missionary Marie Blake; and two grandchildren, Brandon Howell and Eric Howell.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories three children, two sons, Jeffery Wayne Mixon of Little Rock and Lester Eric Mixon of Waldo; one daughter, Diana Ann (John) Howell of Waldo; two brothers, Marvin (Essie) Turner of Waldo and Superintendent James (Erma) Turner of McNeil; 29 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; her very special friend, Mrs. Annie Carrington; her loving niece. Rosie Marie Burton, who went above and beyond to help care for her; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her church family who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020, at Cotton Belt Church of God in Christ in Waldo.

Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Waldo, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC.

Superintendent James Turner will officiate.

Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, February 20, at Reed Funeral Home.
