A come-and-go visitation for Lewis Dean Balentine, 83, of Oakland, Arkansas, will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today, March 25, 2020, at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. In observance of COVID-19 guidelines for gatherings, the number of people admitted at a time will be monitored. Mr. Balentine died March 21 in Mountain Home.

He was born July 31, 1936, in Fifty-Six, Arkansas, the son of Benjamin Eddie and Mittie Lancaster Balentine.

In 1964 in Calico Rock, Arkansas, he married Wilma Plumlee from Gainesville.

He was a farmer and a sewing machine mechanic at Marbax for more than 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and working on his farm. He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Oakland, Arkansas, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed scuba diving, fishing and hunting (especially coon hunting).

Mr. Balentine was a family man who loved being with his children and grandchildren and always had time for them.

He is survived by one daughter, Tina Lynn Poe and husband Michael of Gainesville; two sons, Randy Dean Balentine and wife Adrienne, and Lewis “Eddie” Edward Curtis Balentine and wife Jennifer, all of Oakland; six grandchildren: Micaela Poe, Brandon Poe, Tristan Messier, Cole Balentine, Sierra Balentine and Elizabeth Balentine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma; one sister, Zelma Washam; and two brothers, E. C. Balentine and Leverle Balentine.

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday during a private family service.

Wilma (Spooky) June Balentine, age 70, of Oakland, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born November 6, 1943, in Oakland, Arkansas to Richard and Elsie (Sisney) Plumlee.

Mrs. Balentine married Lewis Balentine, of Fifty-Six, Arkansas, December 21, 1963, in Midway, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and giving mother to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church.

Mrs. Balentine is survived by her husband: Lewis Balentine of Oakland, Arkansas, daughter: Tina Poe and husband Mike of Gainesville, Missouri, two sons: Randy Balentine and wife Adrienne and Eddie Balentine and wife Jennifer all of Oakland, Arkansas, three sisters: Janice Dixon of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Christine Plumlee of West Plains, Missouri and Brenda Marberry of Flippin, Arkansas, two brothers: Alva Plumlee of Las Vegas, Nevada and Orville Plumlee of Fayetteville, Arkansas and six grandchildren: Micaela Poe, Brandon Poe, Tristan Messier, Cole Lewis Balentine, Sierra Balentine and Elizabeth Balentine. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Roller Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Holth officiating. A visitation will be Friday from Noon until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
