Mrs. Dorothy P. Roy, 89, of Independence, Missouri, formerly of Beedeville, Arkansas, died Friday, January 4, 2013.
She was born July 21, 1923 at Newport, Arkansas, the daughter of Sidney and Mary Louise (Koettel) Proctor. She married Mr. John D. Roy on June 29, 1947, and they were married 61 years at the time of his death in 2008.

Mrs. Roy was a homemaker and mother, and a member of the Blue Springs, Missouri, Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and baking cakes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Roy; two brothers, J.L. and Dallas Proctor; and one sister, Henrietta Pinckney.

Mrs. Roy is survived by two sons, A. Gene Bigham of Brentwood, California, and Charles Roy of Livingston, Texas; two daughters, Johnnie Roy Kramer and husband Frank of Jefferson City, Missouri and Dorothy Roy Bishop and husband, Lew of Fairbank, Alaska; one brother, Gene Proctor of Delaware; five sisters, Barbara McCall of California, Mary Murphree of Little Rock, Edwina Piker of Independence, Missouri, Sidney Norvell of Wynne; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 3:00 p.m. Friday at Eightmile Cemetery in Beedeville, Arkansas. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
