Joetta Rena Taylor McElyea Honey of Jonesboro, Arkansas departed this life on June 16, 2018 at the age of 48 at Tilton, Arkansas, the result of a vehicle/train accident. Joetta was born on February 25, 1970 in McCrory, Arkansas, the daughter of Edward Taylor and Alta Jacobs Taylor.

Joetta graduated from McCrory High School in 1988. She graduated from Arkansas State University in 2010 with a Degree in Accounting and in 2014 with a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration. She was employed by Life Strategies in Jonesboro.

Joetta married Louis Earl McElyea on December 31, 1991 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Joetta married Gary Todd Honey on August 22, 2004, who survives. Joetta enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her grand puppy, Piddle. She lived life to the fullest and will be severely missed by those who knew her. Some of her last words were “I will smile to the day I die”.

Joetta was preceded in death by her grandparents, J. Q. and Alice Smith Taylor, J. D. and Caroline Dix Jacobs, one husband, Louis McElyea, one brother, James Edward Taylor and nephew, Nicholas Newton.

She is survived by parents, Eddie and Alta Taylor of McCrory, Arkansas, two sons, David McElyea and Braden Reynolds both of Jonesboro, Arkansas, her husband, Gary Todd Honey of Jonesboro, Arkansas, one brother, Johnny Wayne Taylor and wife Jennifer of McCrory, Arkansas, one sister, Judy Fletcher and husband Jimmie of Harrisburg, Arkansas and a special aunt, Shirley Jacobs of McCrory, Arkansas, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Todd Honey, Dennis Martin, Jimmy McElyea, Justin McElyea, Timmy Reynolds, Jerry Taylor, Terry Taylor and Timmy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Gaskin and James Glass.

The family requests that memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 20th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21st at Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Eight Mile Cemetery.
