Jack Whitson, Jr., 94, of Ozark, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Ozark.
He was born October 25, 1920 in Ozark to Jack Sr. and Bertha English Whitson.

He was retired from Sinclair Oil and Gas and BP Oil Company after 30 years of employment. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ozark and a WWII Veteran of the United States Army serving at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Camp Shelby, Mississippi and in the European Theatre during World War II.
Jack graduated from Ozark High School and Draughons Business College in Fort Smith. Jack and his wife, Norma, lived in San Diego, California prior to entering the U.S. Army. They returned home from Midland, Texas to Ozark in 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Norma Ruth Helmert Whitson; a sister, Mary Lou Kesner and husband Dale of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a nephew, Jim Mainard of Ozark; a niece Bonnie Kesner Curlin and husband Jay of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Also surviving are Clinton, Roxie, Raelynn and Jameson Hall of Ozark.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 14th at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Noggle, Jr. and Reverend Paul Coy officiating and burial at Highland Cemetery, under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Serving as pallbearers are Jim, Joe, and Larry Helmert; John Noggle, Sr., Ralph Johnson, Jr., and Jim Young.

Norma Ruth “Nonie” Whitson , age 96, of Ozark, Arkansas earned her angel wings on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was born February 29, 1924 in Denning, Arkansas to Emil A. and Maude Nichols Helmert. Having been born on February 29th, she claimed to be “only 21” in Leap Day years.
She was formerly employed by Arthur Young & Co. Accounting Firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma and retired as an administrative assistant with the Scharbauer Land and Cattle Company in Midland, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Maude Nichols Helmert and Emil “Kraut” A. Helmert and her beloved husband of seventy-three years, Jack Whitson, Jr.
She is survived by “the kids”, Clinton, Roxie, Raelynn and Jameson Hall; a niece, Bonnie Curlin and husband Jay of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; a god-daughter, Lisa Keeven and husband Brian of Flourissant, Missouri; a cousin/god-daughter, Karen Hosick and husband David of River Grove, Illinois; a great-nephew, Jay Mainard and wife Katelyn of Ozark; several cousins; and special friend, Shirley Richardson.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 30, 2020 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Hanshaw and Brother Brad Elrod officiating and burial at Highland Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Serving as pallbearers are cousins, Jim (Bo), Joe, Larry and Bo Helmert, and Clinton and Jameson Hall.
Open viewing will be held Noon until 9:00 PM Thursday, October 29th at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark.
