Kathryn Sue Tretenburg
August 4, 1953 - November 22, 2020
Kathryn Sue “Susie” Tretenburg, age 67, of Portia, AR passed from this life Sunday, November 22, 2020 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR after a lengthy illness. She was born August 4, 1953 in Walnut Ridge, AR. She married her friend and love, Lowell D. Tretenburg on May 29, 1982; he preceded her in death in 2001.
Sue was a graduate of Black Rock, AR High School and attended the First Baptist Church of Black Rock in her youth. As an adult, she worked at Frolic Footwear and also at Skil Power Tolls in Walnut Ridge, AR. She loved solving word puzzles and Watching her “stories” on TV and was a longtime fan of General Hospital in particular.
She also loved spending time with her family and talking to her friends, especially her two dearest and special friends Elwanda Yates and Vickie Smith Adams. She enjoyed her weekly phone call to her uncle Gene Dalton McCarroll, until her deteriorating health prevented her from continuing the conversation, they both looked forward to. Above all, Sue was a dedicated mother who treasured her son Shawn McCarroll, the light of her life and embraced every moment with him.
In addition to being preceded in death by her beloved Shawn and her adoring husband Lowell, those who passed before her include her loving mom Syble McCarroll and hard working dad Edward “Jack” McCarroll, her maternal grandparents William Charles and Clara Lee Hilburn, her paternal grandparents George W. and Mary Pearl McCarroll, and her nephew, Nick McCarroll.
She is survived by her sister Brenda McDaniel (Rob) of Jonesboro, AR, her three brothers Mickey McCarroll of Bono, AR, Billy McCarroll (Julie) of North Little Rock, AR, and Jimmy McCarroll of Portia, AR, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside service and interment of her Cremated Remains will be November 28, 2020 at 1 P.M. at the Old Lebanon Cemetery in Eaton, AR with Bro. Harold Russell officiating.
Life threw more curveballs at Sue than one person should ever have to experience in 10 lifetimes, let alone one. But life underestimated her strength, because she caught and threw them back, time after time, year after year. Her earthly body has now broken, but she will no longer suffer. She has gone to receive her heavenly reward and reunite with loved ones who went before her. She is finally free, to walk again, breathe again and be happy.
