Mr. William Clinton Dabbs, 93, of Beedeville, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Woodruff County Health Center.

He was born September 10, 1918, in Ripley County, Missouri, the son of Cleveland and Laura Jane (Lafferty) Dabbs.

Mr. Dabbs married Maude Alice Thomas on March 19, 1940.

He worked with his dad in the timber business as a young man. In the early 1940's he started farming and continued until he retired about 1973. He was an active member of the Beedeville Church of Christ where he served as an elder and treasurer for many years. He served as Justice of the Peace for many years. In his retirement he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and in his woodworking shop where he made lamps, sconces, candleholders, picture frames and other wooden crafts.

Mr. Dabbs was preceded in death by his wife of 62, his parents and five sisters, Ardrey Dabbs, Ruth Woodcock, Mary Peacock, Francis Lilly and Sylvia Breckenridge.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Youngblood of Searcy; a son, Larry Dabbs and wife, Connie of Beedeville; two grandsons, Steven Dabbs of Beedeville and Nathan Dabbs and wife, Anna of McCrory; and two great-grandsons, Carter Dabbs and Clancy Dabbs.

Funeral services were held at the Beedeville Church of Christ. Arrangments were by Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Interment was in Eightmile Cemetery.
