Mrs. Mary Regina Hagan Wimberley, 93, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in Woodbridge, Va.

Born June 3, 1917, in Huffman to Eddie and Mary Emma Hagan, Mrs. Wimberley was a graduate of Armorel High School. She worked at the Mississippi County courthouse as well as the sheriff's office before marrying Ulues Wimberley Nov. 10, 1951. The couple resided in Chula Vista, Calif.

After her husband passed away in 1967, she moved to Memphis to be closer to her family. She was an avid genealogist and a member of the Charlevoix Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution.

For the last several years, she resided in Woodbridge, Va., which allowed her to be near her son, Steven, and his wife, Sally, which brought her great joy.

She was an avid Cardinal fan, though she was disappointed she did not get to watch many Cardinal games after moving to Virginia.

Mrs. Wimberley was a devout Catholic and a very loving person. She was the family matriarch and served as the family historian, having a keen and unmatched recollection of people, dates and places. She had a great love for her family and its history.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wimberley was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Hagan Seibert and Genevieve Hagan Gunn.

She leaves her son, Steven, and his wife, Sally;

Two granddaughters, Louisa Wimberley of Mineral, Va., and Emmaline Wimberley of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., all of whom she dearly loved;

Two sisters, Eileen Hagan O'Neal of Blytheville and Geneva Hagan White of Campbell, Mo.;

Several nieces and nephews; and

Many great- and great-great nieces and nephews who will miss her kind and loving nature.

A visitation for the family will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville. Funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Her nephews will act as pallbearers.
