September 17, 1928 - February 12, 2020
Malvin “Shorty” McKnight, 91, of El Dorado passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born on Sept. 17, 1928 in Union Parish, Louisiana, to the late Pearl Bryant McKnight and Clifford McKnight. Shorty was a retired transport driver for Colonial Bakery, having served 33 years before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Malcolm McKnight, Coy McKnight, Troy McKnight and J.C. McKnight; and four sisters, Iverne Kennedy, Opal Groves, Earnestine Diebler and Floy Neely.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Mary Beth Mason McKnight; one son, Kenneth McKnight and wife Carolyn of Spearsville, Louisianan; granddaughter, Connie Taute and husband David of El Dorado; grandson, Steven McKnight and wife Mae of Lincoln, Nebraska; great grandchildren, Heather Hodges and husband Chris of Louann, Dakota McKnight of El Dorado, Shawn McKnight of Georgia, and Zach Taute and wife Kristin of El Dorado; one brother, Tim McKnight of Smackover; and two sisters, Jannette Neely of El Dorado and Joyce Thomas of Smackover.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2010 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Robertson and Bro. Ricky Donahue officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tony McKnight, Jimmy McKnight, David Taute, Larry Neely, Chris Hodges and Zach Taute. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dakota McKnight, Steven McKnight, Shawn McKnight and David Womack.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Life Touch Hospice for their compassionate care to Shorty during his time with hospice.
