Mrs. Alto Murphy, 56, died in a local hospital Tuesday after a lengthy illness. Born March 12, 1910, in Calhoun County, she had lived in Lake Village for the past six years. Survivors include her husband, Leon Murphy, Lake Village; two sons, Buddy McWhirter, Junction City, La., and Marcus Seagroves, Houma, La.; five daughters, Mrs. Lee Blancardi, Waterberry, Conn.; Mrs. Lou Prestridge, Smackover; Mrs. Janie Miles, Lomita, Calif.; Mrs. Mellia Hammonds, Orlando, Fla.; and Mrs. Doshialee Weems, Houston, Tex.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Linda McKenzie, Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. Marla Trout, Lake Village; and Miss Becky Murphy, El Dorado. Other survivors include four brothers, William Holmes, Charlie Holmes, and Jesse Holmes, all of Hampton, and Floyd Holmes of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Berle Polk, Smackover, Mrs. Alma Williamson, Camden, and Mrs. Elton Jefferies, Hampton; 13 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Hampton with the Rev. A. W. Smart of Smackover officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Ground Cemetery under the direction of a Lake Village funeral home. Pallbearers will be Billy Holmes, B. F. Jeffreys, Homer Jefferys, Harold Reynolds, Harold Tucker, and Hollis Henderson. (The El Dorado Times - August 10, 1966)
