John H. Muss Dies Suddenly at Wild Cherry

John H. Muss, one of this section’s best known citizens, died unexpectedly at the home of a daughter at Wild Cherry, Saturday morning. He appeared as well as usual early in the morning and was planning to come to Calico Rock when he was stricken. Death resulted a few minutes after he became ill.

Mr. Muss was born at Calico Rock and the early part of his life was spent here, except for a few years residence in Texas. He had been a resident of Wild Cherry and vicinity the past 45 years. He united with the Union congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church early in life and for a number of years served as a ruling elder in the church.

Mr. Muss was preceded in death by his wife and five children.

Surviving are one son, Ausby H. Muss of Calico Rock; three daughters, Mrs. Willie Dockins, Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Mae McMillan, West Plains, Mo., and Mrs. Alba Forrister, Wild Cherry and four grandchildren.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Y. Whitfield of Pineville, were held Monday afternoon. Burial was in Wayland Arbor Cemetery, with the Roller Funeral Service in charge of arrangements

Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Muss

Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Muss age about 70 died at her home at Wild Cherry Monday. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, John Henry Muss; four daughters, Mrs. Jim McMillin and Mrs. A. C. Dellenger both of West Plains, Mrs. T. O. Dockins of Little Rock and Miss Alva Muss of Calico Rock; a son Ausby Muss of Calico Rock; three grandchildren; two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were conducted at Wayland Arbor Tuesday by Revs. Y. Whitfield and B. R. Robertson with arrangements in charge of the McGuire Funeral Home.
