Carolyn Clark Brock, 90, of Memphis, Tennessee and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Sycamore Place in Memphis.

Carolyn was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Brent Gillespie and Mary Catherine Johns Clark. At the age of 15, Carolyn attended the University of Alabama. Her freshman year, she was crowned homecoming queen and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Carolyn transferred to Vanderbilt University at age of 16 and graduated with an education degree. While in school, she met her husband, Dr. Charles Brock, Jr. and they were married January 27, 1951 in Brentwood, Tennessee. Carolyn taught for one year in Miami, Florida and also directed a school in Blytheville and taught for special needs children. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where she taught adult Sunday school and a Kindergarten class at the church. She was very active in the church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed teaching bible studies and preparing children’s worship kits. She was also very active in her community, serving the P.E.O. Chapter N and was a lifetime member of Junior Auxiliary. Carolyn enjoyed needlework, herb gardening and outings and visits with her grandchildren. Carolyn truly had a servant’s heart. She was compassionate and giving, doing for others, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. She had a strong character and positive outlook that carried her through life. Carolyn often offered pearls of wisdom to her children and grandchildren, reminding them that “Happiness visits us in moments, but joy lives in the heart of a Christian.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles C. Brock, Jr.; her parents; and brother, William Gillespie Clark.

Carolyn leaves three children, Elizabeth Brock of Memphis, Cathy Still of Jonesboro and Mary Lynn Nicholson (Brett) of Collierville; nine grandchildren, Brock Still (Dara), Amanda Turk (Jason), Catherine Foster (Randall), Lindsay Nunneley (Joel), Sarah Strobbe (Brett), Olivia Burris (Andrew), Brett Nicholson, Jr., Noah Nicholson and Tate Nicholson; nine great-grandchildren, Ashton Talley Still, Riley Rippe, Emily Turk, Scott Foster, Adeline Turk, Anabel Turk, Smith Strobbe, Carlisle Strobbe, Mclaine Burris and baby Burris due in September; two nieces, Carolyn Keener and Libby Robinson; and two nephews, David Robinson and Brett Clark.
