Obituary
rollefuneralhomes.com
Farrell Randell “Till” Thorn, 78, of Guy, stepped over into the arms of his Lord, February 13, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends that loved him.
He was born in Guy, Arkansas on August 19, 1930 to the late Gerald and Bertha (Hooten) Thorn. He was a cattle farmer and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Guy. Till loved and accepted everyone he met and everyone that knew him loved him. His passions were hard work on his cattle farm through the years to provide for his family and twenty-one children that he took in and raised, spending time with his wife, his children, family and friends, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities, hunting, and fishing. He loved to have company and if he had food on his dinner table he never turned anyone away. He would say “There’s more of that, than there is anything else.” Till’s life can be described best in the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 91:14-16: “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him: I will set him on high because he has known my name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satistfy him, and show him My salvation.”
Till is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Margo (Carmichael) Thorn, son, Danny Thorn and wife Joyce of Conway; daughter, Monta Fortner and husband Mickey of Guy; five grandchildren, Randy (Jenny) Thorn, Arron Thorn, Amber (Monty) Fulmer, Cassidy (Alan) Presley, and Ashley (Heath) Fowler; nephew, Alan (Julie) Carmichael, whom he raised as his own son; the mother of his children, Faye Langley; ten great-grandchildren, Bryar Thorn, Brianna Duncan, Julieanna Thorn, Brittani Carmichael, Dustyn Carmichael, Balie Fulmer, Cheyenne, Randi, and Clayton Presley; three brothers, Julius “Missy” and Winnie Thorn, Willard and Kay Thorn, and Melvin “Pete” and Sandra Thorn of Greenbrier; three sisters, Rhoda and Buford Treadway of Greenbrier, Nana Kay and Jim Raper of Benton, and Ruby Burroughs and Ken of Conway; many nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charlie Loveless, and a brother, Olen Dale “Hoot” Thorn.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Copperas Springs Baptist Church in Guy with Bro. Gary Burdin officiating. Burial will follow at Copperas Springs Cemetery with Travis Thorn, Todd Thorn, Mark Thorn, Steven Thorn, Timmy Dicus, Jason Burroughs, Alan Carmichael, and James Dickens, serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: C. W. “Wandell” Acre, Chris “Boso” Acre, Josh Acre, Les Vance, Jerry Glover, Jackie Reynolds, C. H. Williams, E. C. Rowlett, Jerry Lee Glover, and Bill Sims. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the church. Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
