When Claudia Mae Gillispie was born on November 30, 1888, in Rockdale, Texas, her father, James, was 26, and her mother, Margaret, was 21. She married John Washington Criddle on March 13, 1904. They had nine children in 21 years. She died on June 11, 1973, in Poplar Grove, Arkansas, at the age of 84.
